TIGERS TOP THE PANTHERS IN WINDY MATCH 2-0

York, Ned.

DWU Tigers were the top cats in the 2-0 win over the Panthers of York University. The Tigers kept their momentum rolling, improving to 4-0 on the season. Korbinian Rieder scored the first goal of the match in the 8' minute after a penalty against York. Francis Dolce scored the next goal late in the second half to seal the win for the Tigers.

How It Happen –

Tigers picked the pace early and stuck to it. The offense controlled the ball as they looked for good shots and the defense kept the ball away from the net. Hunter Birozy grabbed the only three shots on goal that the Panthers had to keep it a shutout. First goal for the Tigers came from a penalty inside the box, allowing Rieder to have a penalty shot. DWU was able to capitalize and control the game from this point.

Second half the windy weather picked up more, forcing both teams to keep the ball on the ground. The Tigers used the weather to their advantage and were able to take longer shots down the field to keep the Panther defenders on their toes. Nearing the end of the match, the Panthers pushed their offense looking to get a shot into the back of the net to tie it up. In the chaos the Tigers were able to force a corner kick that set up Dolce to score his only goal in the match. The second goal in the 81' minute put the game out of reach for the Panthers and the Tigers were able to walk out their fourth win of the season.
