TIGERS COME UP SHORT IN 2-0 LOSS TO DORDT

Mitchell S.D. –

DWU men's soccer played a strong game but came up short against an overly physical Dordt team in the 2-0 loss. The Tigers were missing several players due to injury and sickness but looked to keep it a very competitive match.

How It Happened-

The first half saw little action as both teams looked to set the tone by being extremely physical on both ends of the field. The scoreless first half saw the Tigers with a one-shot advantage over the Defenders before the game started to get chippy between the players.

Dordt came out of halftime and looked to score and did so in the 49' and 51' minute to quickly go up 2-0 on the Tigers. Even with a lead, Dordt was the aggressors in the second half of the match as they picked up 13 foul calls against them, as they finished the game with 23 total fouls and no cards. Tiger goalie Hunter Birozy did everything he could to keep the Defenders out of the net, as he grabbed 6 saves with the two goals allowed being a header out of a corner kick and an unlucky bounce. Jonathan Mosqueda and Michael Kelly tried to get the Tigers on the board but were unsuccessful in their attempts to score.

Up Next –

The Tigers will be back in Mitchell again Saturday September 30th as they host Concordia. Game time is set to kick off at 3PM at Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
