TIGERS FALL TO MUSTANGS IN SNOWY BATTLE 3-0

TIGERS FALL TO MUSTANGS IN SNOWY BATTLE 3-0

Sioux City, Iowa –

The DWU men's soccer team faced fierce weather conditions against Morningside this afternoon. The Tigers would keep it even with the Mustangs through the first 45 minutes but as the weather brought in more snow, the Tigers allowed three goals in the second half to fall 3-0.

How It Happened –

What started as a rainy wet game turned into a frozen and snowy match for the Tigers and Mustangs. The Tigers were unable to find a rhythm in the first half, only being able to take one shot in the first 45 minutes of play. The Mustangs fired away with eight shots in the first half, only one being on and goal and Hunter Birozy was able to grab that ball. As the first half counted down, the weather only got worse, and the teams went into the locker room as the snow continued to come down.

Still knotted up at 0-0, both squads looked to get on the score board first. Morningside found their groove and were able to fire six shots in the opening five minutes of the second half and connected on one of those shots to break the dead lock and go up 1-0 over the Tigers. DWU would struggle to get shot opportunities against a stingy Mustang defense and the thickening snow. Morningside would find the back of the net two more times in the second half to go up 3-0. Birozy ended the match with nine saves.

Up Next for the Tigers –

The Tigers wait for the result of the Doane vs Northwestern matchup to determine if the Tigers will be in the GPAC playoffs.
