Dakota Wesleyan Holds Off Briar Cliff in Final Seconds

Mitchell, S.D. -- In close to the final seconds game, the Tigers edged out Briar Cliff (IA) Chargers with a final score of 4-3.

The first score in the match was scored by Briar Cliff, Andrew Buchanan, who netted a goal to give the chargers an early lead of 1-0. However the Tigers struck back immediely thanks to a score by #5 Colin Burke

Briar Cliff got ahead of the Tigers at the 27th minute by Yalin Alici, putting them ahead 2-1 before heading into halftime. Shortly after the break the men Tigers equalized the score in the 48th minute with a goal from #7 Cesar Cornejo. From there the Tigers took control of the night as #11 Lewis Cunningham found the net scoring once again in the 64th giving the Tigers the lead, 3-2. Later in the game #10 Vladislav Burkov added another goal to extend the Tigers lead to 4-2

In the 87th minute, Charger's Edvard Orseth found the net, narrowing the score to 4-3. However, the men Tigers were able to come together and hold out for the win.

The Tigers hit the road for the next two games. First playing the Dordt University Defenders on Saturday, October 26, at 2:15p.m. Followed by a game at Morningside Univerisity on Wednesday, October 30, at 3:30p.m. These two games will round out the regular season for the men's soccer team as they look to finish strong.
