Gerber, Milmine take All-American honors as Taft competes in weight throw

YANKTON, S.D. – A pair of NAIA All-American marks were reached for the Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams, while three Tigers competed at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on Friday and Saturday in Yankton, S.D.

Lydia Gerber (Canton, S.D.) and Caden Milmine (Buffalo, Wyo.) each earned All-American honors in the triple jump and shot put, respectively. Morgan Taft (Norris, S.D.) took part in the weight toss on Friday as well for the Tigers.

Gerber qualified for the finals in the triple jump thanks to a career best mark of 38-0 feet (11.58 m). Gerber attempted to improve on that mark in the finals but could not. However, the mark was still enough to give her All-American honors after a seventh-place finish.

Recording another career best over the weekend was Milmine in the men's shot put. He qualified for the finals thanks to his third throw of 55-01.5 feet (16.80 meters). After the lifetime-best throw, Milmine was unable to improve on the mark, but took fifth place and received All-American honors. The toss also moved him into third all-time in indoor men's shot put.

Competing in her first NAIA Indoor National Championships was Taft as she participated in the women's weight throw. Her third throw of the day was her best as it was a toss of 50-04 feet (15.34 m). Taft's throw secured her a 16th-place finish at the championships.

The meet concluded the indoor season with the outdoor track and field schedule to be released later this spring.
