Coaches Quotes—
Roger Malonda on distance:
Very pleased with our first outing of 2023. Solid performances across the board, putting the group at a much better start compared to previous seasons. Hats off to Hunter Shanks and Annika Vermeulen. Hunter ran almost a personal best after weeks of dealing with a bit of sickness, and Annika starts the season running times she was running at the end of last year. Our milers today, Wyatt Baldauf, Caleb Sayler, and Layne Lewis, all run PRs or close to. Obviously pleased to get the 1-2 spots on the DWU all-time lists in that race!
Caden Milnine on throws:
The throwers had a solid performance this weekend, winning both events and walking away with 3 personal bests. They move into the next meet healthy and ready to compete
Lydia Gerber & Lia GuiGui on jumps:
The jumps squad performed well for the first meet after winter break. There were multiple PRs across the board and each athlete showed improvement. They have put in the work it takes to be successful each weekend and will continue to do so as the season progresses.
Matt Rosado on the meet:
I'm very happy with the efforts from today, there were a lot of things I was looking for this weekend coming off a long break and I see a lot of signs that we'll be prepared when the time comes. The distance group continues to shine and I'm confident they will continue to improve. The jumps group came to compete with multiple personal best. The throwers looked good as they improved on some marks and walked away with some event wins. And the sprinters/hurdles executed the way I wanted them too in their races and showed a lot of bright spots. Proud of the staff for being able to continue to get the most from this group.
