
Wayne, Neb. - The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers kicked off their outdoor season at the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. The meet began at 10:00 a.m. with the throwing field events, followed by the running events, which started at 2:00 p.m.
Track Events:
Sprints-
- Bart Nielsen (Jr.) competed in the 110m and 400m hurdles. The upperclassmen had a big day to start out his season as he ran a PR with 15.73 seconds in the 110m. In the 400m hurdles he came close to tying his PR through the strong winds as he ran a 59.29 second run, being 0.18 away.
- Sean DeBlieck (Fr.) opened up his college outdoor season in the 100m. He ran a 11.18 second run. Narrowly missing his chance to write his name in Tiger history to make the top-ten list for outdoor.
- Gage Hohn (Fr.) also competed in the 100m dash. He posted a time of 11.69 seconds in his first 100m run.
- Ian Chrisler (Fr.) ran in the 200m dash. He ran a lifetime PR of 23.26 seconds. Chrisler also ran in the 400m. He ran a time of 54.29 seconds.
Distance-
- Kade Watson (So.) made his college outdoor debut in the 800m mid-distance race. He posted a time of 2:08 minutes. He looks to keep the progress going.
- Zachary Robinson (Fr.) ran in the 1500m race. He finished with a good starting time of 5:15 minutes. Robinson continues to improve himself as finds his stride.
Field Events:
Jumps-
- Quenton Walls (So.) had a solid jump day as he was inches away from his own PR's in the long and triple jump. In long his best mark was a 6.30m jump. Improving on each jump. In triple jump Walls jumped a 12.84m. Walls qualified for finals in both his events, placing 2nd in triple and 7th in long.
- A'Johntez Moore (Fr.) things started to click for Moore as he placed 4th overall in the long jump and posted an all-time collegiate PR with a 6.51m jump.
Throws-
- Christian Hanna (Fr.) the senior competed in the shot put and discus throws. In shot he threw a 10.67m mark. In his first college discus, Hannas best throw was 30.18m. Improving as the day continued.
- Cole Holden (Jr.) placed 2nd overall at the meet with a 51.63m throw in the javelin. Holden was .30m away from tying his all-time PR and is now #23 in the NAIA.
- Max Raab (Jr.) competed in javelin, his best mark of the day was 48.80m. Placing him 4th overall in his event.
- Ethan Watson took part in three throwing events throughout the day. In shot put the freshman threw 15.25m, 2 feet away from his PR. Watson placed 3rd. In discus his best throw was a 37.69, that will be his collegiate PR to start the season. In hammer Watson he threw a 35.55m.
- Gage Hohn (Fr.) took part in the discus and javelin at the meet. Both being his first time. In the discus event he threw 24.95m. In Javelin his best was 29.08m. He'll get another chance to do those next week as he will compete in the decathlon.
Tigers Looking Ahead-
The young team gained valuable experience in their first outdoor meet of the year, and looks to build on it throughout the season. Aiming to lower their times and to improve marks. Next week, the men's track and field will travel to the University of South Dakota to compete in the Early Bird Invite.
