
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's and women's cross-country teams kicked off the 2019 season at the Augustana Twilight on Friday at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.
On the men's side, Wyatt Baldauf (Seneca, Ill.) finished in 21:25.00 and freshman Justin Sorensen (Vermillion, S.D.) finished with a time of 21:58.08 minutes, while Devin Rihanek (Plankinton, S.D.) was not far behind as he finished in 22:15.61 and Layne Lewis (Plankinton, S.D.) tallied a total time of 22:40.41. Logan Whittle tallied a time of 26:46.00.
For the women, Samantha Shoultz (Huron, S.D.) led the charge as she finished in 21:20.37 and Mckenna Rogers (Saint Michael, Minn.) cross the finish line in 21:53.58.
Freshman Annika Vermeulen (Mitchell, S.D.) took a time of 22:03.72, Savannah Schmidt (Plankinton, S.D.) finished in 22:35.29 and Ashley Pruss (Tea, S.D.) tallied a time of 22:53.71. Baylee Field (Fremont, Neb.) finished in 23:55.00, while Macey Bohl (Garretson, S.D.) recorded a time of 24:13.06.
Both cross-country teams will compete next on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Madison, S.D.
