HASART, MURPHY, AND SAYLER CONTINUE TO SHAKE UP DWU XC RECORD BOOKS

Sioux City, SD –

Abby Hasart and Caley Murphy each ran strong races, using new PRs to move up the DWU XC record books. Hasart broke her previous all-time school record by almost two minutes. Murphy broke her personal best and moved up to the third spot. Caleb Sayler finished 8th in the men's race, breaking his own personal best by nearly forty seconds and land himself in 4th on the DWU all-time record book. Hunter Shanks sets a new personal record as well, just missing the 10th spot in the all-time records. Head Coach Matthew Rosado had this to say after a strong day for Tiger cross country: "Since team camp, we planned to be firing on all cylinders at this point in the season. Today we came alive and started to look like our true selves on a course we'll see again in our conference meet. Couldn't be any prouder of this group and the way we handled ourselves."

How it Happened

DWU cross country had another great performance by Abby Hasart and Caley Murphy as they shook up the DWU record books again. Hasart shattered the previous all-time 6k record, that she just set, with her new time of 23:16.20. Hasart finished in the 40th spot out of 224 runners. Murphy crossed the line at 172nd and running unattached from DWU was Tania Hernandez who finished the race with a time of 27:03.71. Head Coach Rosado had this to say about the women's race: "Ladies had a huge day and got stronger as the race unfolded, number one and three all-time is a heck of a day. Caley battles sickness all week and showed up big time to prove to herself and others that she's only getting stronger."

Caleb Sayler finished 8th in the men's race as he crossed with his new PR time of 25:09.90. There were 217 total runners in the men's race with both Tiger runners finishing in the top 60. Hunter Shanks crossed the line with a time of 26:33.73 and finished 59th. Coach Rosado had this statement for the men's performances: "The men battled some of the best this region has to offer and bowed down to no one. Huge personal best for them as we step into the heart of our schedule, it was great to see them come alive."
