TIGERS SCORE 32 COMBINED RUNS IN SWEEP AGAINST BRONCOS

The Dakota Wesleyan University softball hosted the Hastings Broncos in a double header GPAC matchup this afternoon. DWU earned the sweep after they put up a combined 32 runs between the two games. The Tigers limited their errors in the windy and chilly conditions as they only had four total. The Tigers won game one in walk off fashion in a 16-15 battle and then held the Broncos run less through the first four innings before earning the 16-5 victory. Ivy Woolwine earned the win in game one and Grace Ortmeier earned her first win as a Tiger in game two

 Game 1 was a high wind, high scoring contest with both teams lighting it up. In the first inning alone, the two teams combined for 10 runs on 11 hits. DWU grabbed the first lead with their six runs in the first inning and held that lead through the third. Hastings took control of the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth and stranded two Tigers. Six Tigers had connected on two or more pitches in the first game with Reagan Grossi going three of four with two runs and two RBIs. Trialing 13-10 in the bottom of the sixth, DWU put up five runs on the board to regain the lead heading into the sixth. The Broncos tied it up in the sixth and held DWU scoreless. With the score tied up 15-15, Ivy Woolwine put Hastings down in order in the top of the seventh. Reagan Grossi made it to third base off an error by the Broncos. Monique Gomez hit one up the middle and Grossi scored a walk off run to take game 1 from the Broncos.

Game two was all about the Tigers. McKinnely Mull put up the first run after Jordyn Blogg doubled to center. Nora Nelson took notes from Blogg and doubled to center as well and earned two RBIs with Grossi and Blogg stepping on home, the first of several for these three. Dakota Wesleyan carried game one's hitting into the second game, and they poured on the runs scoring 13 runs in the next three innings, five in both the second and fourth innings. Grace Ortmeier started in the circle in game two and earned her first win of the season and first win as a Tiger, only giving up runs in the final frame of play. Grossi, Nelson, and Blogg all had themselves a day as they combined for eight hits, seven runs, and eight RBIs in the second game. Grossi went five for eight between the two games with seven runs and four RBIs.
