Dakota Wesleyan Rolls to Two Wins at ASBS Softball Classic, Looks to Finish Strong

Sioux Center, Iowa The Dakota Wesleyan softball team put together a dominant performance at the ASBS Softball Classic, securing a 10-1 victory over Valley City State (ND) in Game 1 before shutting out Dickinson State (ND) 4-0 in Game 2. 

Game 1: Dakota Wesleyan 10, Valley City State 1 

The Tigers wasted no time getting on the board, as Jordyn Blogg crushed a three-run home run to center field in the early innings, bringing in Alessandra Ciurca and McKinnely Mull to give Dakota Wesleyan the lead. The offensive fireworks continued in the fourth, when Ashlen Johnson delivered another three-run blast, extending the Tigers' advantage to 10-1. 

Defensively, the Tigers were in complete control, allowing just one run on two hits while keeping Valley City State off balance. Allison Ernsberger led the charge in the circle, delivering a strong outing to keep the Vikings in check. 

With the win, Dakota Wesleyan improved to 6-3 on the season. 

Game 2: Dakota Wesleyan 4, Dickinson State 0 

Looking to avenge an early-season loss to Dickinson State, Dakota Wesleyan delivered a commanding performance from start to finish. The Tigers jumped to an early 3-0 lead, with Ashlen Johnson and Jordyn Blogg each driving in a run to set the tone. 

In the circle, Keirstyn Krcil was dominant, allowing just three hits while shutting down the Hawks in the late innings. She recorded four strikeouts, while the Tigers' defense remained rock solid, securing the shutout victory. 

With the win, Dakota Wesleyan improved to 7-3 on the season.

  • Jordyn Blogg (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D., Nursing) had a standout performance in Game 1, launching a three-run homer to spark the Tigers' offense. 

  • McKinnely Mull (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D., Biochemistry) played a key role in Game 2, tallying two hits and one run to help propel Dakota Wesleyan to victory.
