DWU scores near school record 114 in season-opening win

DWU topped the Bravehearts 114-25, just missing the school record of 116 points in single game set against Arizona Christian in 2011-12.
The Tigers were 45-of-81 from the field in the win, with a pair of forwards scoring at least 20 points. Sophomore forward Ashley Bray (Anoka, Minn.) scored a team-high 22 points, with junior forward Erica Herrold (Dimock, S.D.) adding 20 points.
Junior guard Gabby Frykbo (Sodertalje, Sweden), who will need to play an expanded role this season after the offseason injury to sophomore Chesney Nagel (Springfield, S.D.), scored 11 points. True freshmen Kelsey Bertram (Winner, S.D.) and Hope Menning (Corsica, S.D.) added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Tigers finished with 50 rebounds, 23 offensive, with sophomore Shanna Selby (Faith, S.D.) pulling down a team-high nine. Herrold and freshman Rylie Osthus (De Smet, S.D.) chipped in with six assists each. DWU had 23 assists and 11 turnovers.
DWU has a week off before taking on rival Dakota State University at 6 p.m. Nov. 10 in Madison, S.D.
