Quick look at second round matchup vs. Davenport

SIOUX CITY, Iowa ­­– The Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball team won its first round game in the team's first appearance in the NAIA national tournament in 12 years Wednesday morning, and the Tigers are looking to keep the run going against No. 2 seed Davenport University.

The Panthers advanced to the second round with an 81-64 win over No. 7 Southeastern (Fla.) in the opening round Wednesday. Molly Babbs and Alex Law, scoring 16 points in the win, led DU. The Panthers shot 33-of-69 from the field, but made just 1-of-11 shots from behind the 3-point line.

DU advanced to the NAIA tournament by way of winning the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament title.

Season review: Davenport ended the regular season strong and with its win in the opening round of the NAIA Championship, the Panthers have won 11 straight heading into their matchup with DWU. DU is first in the NAIA in offensive rebounds (1,567), assists per game (19.4), second in rebounds per game (47.4) and third in scoring margin (23.5).

Last meeting: DWU and Davenport have never played in women's basketball.
