Mitchell, S.D. – The #7 Tigers extinguished the CSM Flames 100-40 in their home season opener at the Corn Palace. Matti Reiner recorded 19 points and scored her 1,000 point in the game. Isabel Ihnen was the game leader with her career-high 20 points going 6-for-9 from deep. Tigers improve to 4-1 on the season (2-1 in GPAC) with the Flames dropping to 2-5 (0-3 in GPAC).

Recap –

 The Tigers looked to get their perimeter offense going early with Ihnen drilling two shots from deep in the first 1:30 of the game putting the Tigers up 8-2. DWU went on a 15-6 run after Ihnen's second three to go up 23-8 with three minutes left. Jada Campbell contributed six points during the run with Reiner adding four of her own. Dakota Wesleyan closed out the quarter with Ihnen's third three of the game giving the Tigers a 30-13 lead. DWU defense was all over the CSM squad forcing seven turnovers during the quarter. Edelman dished out four assists as well in the quarter.

The Tigers didn't slow down in the second quarter opening it up on a 7-0 run in the first two minutes of the quarter. Ihnen drilled her fourth three of the contest during the run. After a Flame layup the Tigers again would go on a big (8-0) run recording baskets from four different players. Jada Campbell pushed the lead to 30 at the 4:08 mark with her layup. Tigers closed out the half with a layup from Rylee Rosenquist at 2:28 and converted free throws from Aspen Hansen. Defense put the clamps on the Flames in the quarter with CSM only recording one made field goal in the final 7:00 minutes of the quarter and five total points overall in the quarter. Score would sit 51-18 at the half.

In the opening minutes of the third quarter both squads would trade layups and shots from deep keeping the margin at 33 but pushing the score to 56-23. Ihnen poured in her fifth three-pointer of the contest pushing the lead to 36. With 3:55 left in the quarter Ihnen would drill her career-high sixth three and giving the Tigers a 40-point lead. Reiner found the bottom of the net from deep increasing the lead to 43 forcing a College of Saint Mary timeout with 3:18 left. DWU closed the quarter on a 7-4 run pushing the lead to 46 for a 79-33 score. Reiner contributed three of the seven with the first point coming from the free throw line resulting in her 1,000-career point.

 The Tigers didn't slow down in the fourth dominating the quarter 21-7. Britney Lovre and Sprakel led the way in the quarter with five points apiece. The Tigers shot 51.9% from the field, a staggering 57.9% from deep and 84.6% from the charity stripe. DWU dominated on the boards outpacing the Flames 32-21 and in the assists department 29-6. Edelman led the way with her career-high nine assists with Sprakel Ihnen leading with their six rebounds. Dakota Wesleyan defense forced 26 turnovers resulting in scoring 38 points off the turnovers.
