Recap –
The Tigers grabbed the 72-35 win, dominating the points in the paint 50 to the Saints 20. DWU also took advantage of PC mistakes scoring 21 points off of turnovers in the contest. Dakota Wesleyan all day went to Campbell and Sprakel inside, exploiting the at times undersized Saint players that couldn't match Sprakel and Campbell's physicality inside. The Tigers were also extremely active on the boards grabbing a staggering 50 rebounds in the contest with almost half of them coming on the offensive side (22). Sprakel's 23 points set a new career-high for the sophomore forward.
The Tigers suffocating defense was on full display today, forcing 23 Saint turnovers and only giving up 10, 6, 11 and 8 points in each quarter. DWU held PC to a mere 28.8 percent shooting from the floor and 12.5 percent from behind the arc. Dakota Wesleyan had their own troubles behind the arc going 1-8 in the contest with the lone bucket coming from Reiner.
DWU had 10 different players get in on the scoring showing the ball movement and finding the open shot. Of the 29 made field goals the Tigers assisted on 19 of those for a 66% assist-made field goal rate for the game. Dakota Wesleyan got a lot of help from the bench scoring 39 of the 72 points. Sprakel was alone responsible for 23 of those 39 points. The Tigers won each quarter with the biggest margin being in the second quarter outscoring the Saints 20-6. DWU scored 20 points in each of the first three quarters, but then hit a cold spell in the fourth, only recording 12 points.
