Fremont, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan women's basketball squad completed the season sweep over the Warriors with a convincing 86-52 victory. Jada Campbell led with her 20 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Matti Reiner turned in a quality game with 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists. The Tigers shot 50.0% from the floor and dominated the rebound battle 45-28. Dakota Wesleyan improves to 18-7 (12-7 GPAC) while Midland dropped to 4-20 (2-17 GPAC).

Reiner got the DWU offense going with a wide open three-pointer to put the Tigers up early. Both squads proceeded to go bucket-for-bucket in the next three minutes with Dakota Wesleyan holding a slim 7-5 lead after buckets from Campbell and Ihnen. DWU started to pull away forcing Warrior turnovers and attacking down hill with a fast paced offensive attack drawing MID fouls and earning trips to the line. The Tigers would go on a 8-1 run to increase their lead to 15-6 with 3:00 minutes left in the first. Dakota Wesleyan jumped out to their biggest lead of the game (10) after a pair of made free throws from Reiner and Edelman, keeping that attacking mindset on offensive and exposing the Midland late help defense. The Tigers went a perfect 6-6 in the quarter from the stripe. DWU headed to the second quarter with a 19-14 lead. Reiner led with seven points in the quarter followed by Campbell with six.
DWU pulled away from MID in the second quarter, outscoring them 20-9. The Tigers dominated on both ends of the floor, forcing four turnovers (11 total in the half) and shooting and efficient 46.9% from the floor. Midland had a hard time keeping up with the fast-paced Dakota Wesleyan attack with Rosenquist leading the charge in the second quarter. Rylee went for seven in the quarter doing it both inside and on the perimeter with her one three-pointer. The Warriors got a couple baskets early, but like all season the Tiger defense picked up and tightened down holding them scoreless from the 5:30 to 3:00 mark. Dakota Wesleyan closed the last three minutes on a 7-1 run that was capped off by an Edelman three-pointer right before the half. The Tigers took full advantage of every Warrior mistake, scoring 14 points off their turnovers in the first half.
Dakota Wesleyan had been in a slump on the offensive end for the past couple games, but definitely found their rhythm in the third quarter exploding for 27 points. It was the usual recipe of smart quick ball movement, racking up 10 assists during the quarter alone, fast paced down hill cuts and screening as well as efficient shooting from beyond the arc. Campbell led in the quarter with her 10 points followed by Reiner with seven. Six different Tigers got in the scoring column during the quarter showing that good ball movement and finding the open shot. DWU kept the throttle down on defense as well forcing five turnovers during the quarter (16 total in the game). The Tigers again took advantage of the five turnovers by the Warriors, scoring eight points off them in the quarter. DWU headed to the final quarter with a big 66-37 lead.
The Tigers continued this effort into the fourth quarter, getting a big enough lead that a lot of Tiger reserves were able to get into the game and log quality minutes. Maleighya Estes logged six minutes recording two points and two rebounds, Taliyah Hayes played a career-high eight minutes scoring three points on her lone three-pointer, while Lavin Bendt dropped five points and one rebound in four minutes of gameplay. Dakota Wesleyan shot an even 50.0% from the floor while going 5-11 from deep and 13-15 at the free throw line. DWU dominated the rebound battle 45-28 and grabbed 13 offensive rebounds. The Tigers won the fourth quarter by a 20-15 margin, winning every quarter and grabbing the 86-52 victory for the season sweep against the Warriors.
