TIGERS DOMINATE FOURTH QUARTER TO PULL AWAY FROM VIKINGS 79-63 TO CONCLUDE 2023 YEAR

Valley City, N.D. – Dakota Wesleyan women's basketball concluded their 2023 schedule with a 79-63 win over Valley City State. The Tigers finished off the season sweep against the non-conference opponent with their 86-55 win to start the year. Shalayne Nagel recorded her second straight game with 18 points, tying a career-high which Nagel has done three times this season. Taliyah Hayes provided quality minutes off the bench with her 15 points in just 22 minutes of play. DWU dominated the fourth quarter 16-7 which included an 11-0 run in the first six minutes of play in the quarter.

The Tigers won this one on the boards and in the paint with their 42-19 advantage on the boards and 60-31 points in the paint compared to VCSU. Dakota Wesleyan used that rebound advantage to grab 18 offensive boards which they turned into 21 second chance points. DWU shot 48.9% from the floor, 30% from beyond the arc, and 85.7% from the free throw line. Both squads had equal turnovers, but the Tigers turned their forced turnovers in 24 points compared to the Vikings 17.
