DUBUQUE, Iowa – For much of the game, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team looked as if it may come away without a goal for a fourth straight game, but the Tigers broke through in the second overtime to earn their first win of the season.
In the 101st minute, freshman Gemini Wesley (Sioux Falls, S.D.) scored her first goal as a Tiger on a feed from junior Lizeth Gomez (Garden City, Kan.). The goal was the first this season for DWU and got the Tigers in the win column.
The Tigers were outshot by the Crusaders 23-8, but sophomore goalkeeper Cici Schneider (Sioux Falls, S.D.) kept DWU even until the end with 12 saves.
Wesley was the consistent scoring threat for the Tigers in the win. She led DWU with four shots, including two on net, while Gomez added two shots.
The Tigers return home to take n Central Christian College at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
