FREMONT, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team dropped a close contest to Midland University 2-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference action Saturday in Fremont, Neb.
The Tigers held the Warriors to one goal at the half but did not get the equalizer and Midland tacked on one more in the second half. The loss drops DWU to 2-12 overall and 0-7 in the GPAC.
Midland got on the board in the 19th minute on a goal from Cassie Cattabiani on an assist from Rachel Smith. The second Warrior goal was scored by Smith in the 53rd minute on a feed from Michaela Bigsby.
Midland outshot DWU 23-2, while Tiger goalkeeper Cici Schneider (Sioux Falls, S.D.) made nine saves in her return from injury to help keep DWU in the game.
DWU looks to get its first GPAC win of the season against instate rival Mount Marty College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
