Tigers fall in 2OT on Senior Day

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team went to double overtime for a second straight game, but came out on the wrong side the second time around in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.

The Tigers and Bulldogs played to a scoreless tie through regulation in the final home game of the year at DWU. After the score remained tied through the first overtime, Concordia broke through with a goal from Jessica Skerston on an assist from Jordan McCoy in the 102nd minute.

The game was also Senior Day for the Tigers, who honored the careers of four players after the game. Seniors Ashley Burkman (Brandon, S.D.), Alli Blow (Pierre, S.D.), Maranda Ehrenfried (Pierre, S.D.) and Alexis Wilde (Gillette, Wyo.) each played in their final home game as a member of the Tigers n Saturday.

The Tigers were held in the game by a strong defense and the near perfect play of sophomore goalkeeper Cici Schneider (Sioux Falls, S.D.) who has solidified her position as the team's No. 1 goalkeeper since returning from an injury. She made nine saves in the loss.

The Tigers finished with five shots on goal, while freshman Gemini Wesley (Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished with a pair.

The Tigers continue GPAC play against Briar Cliff University at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
