FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team fell short to Waldorf University by the final of 1-0 Sunday in Forest City, Iowa.
Waldorf scored the lone goal of the afternoon in the 16th minute. The Tiger defense kept the Warriors at bay for most of the match, thanks to seven saves by senior goalkeeper Kira Miller (Rock Springs, Wyo.).
The Tigers had several opportunities, but failed to capitalize as freshman Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) recorded four shots on goal in the loss. Jill Asmann (Castle Rock, Colo.), Kaylynn Anziano (Rapid City, S.D.) and Makenna Hancock (Chamberlain, S.D.) each tallied a shot on goal.
DWU (0-7) opens the Great Plains Athletic Conference season, traveling to College of Saint Mary at 1 p.m. Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
