MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team held Northwestern College off the scoreboard for nearly 60 minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Red Raiders defeated the Tigers 2-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
Heading into the locker room knotted at zero, the DWU defense held strong until NWC found the net in the 58th and 85th minute.
For DWU, sophomore Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) recorded three shots on goal, while Brittany Forsman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) added two shots on goal in the loss.
Freshman goalie Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) tallied six saves. Northwestern outshot DWU 18-14.
The Tigers (5-6, 0-4 GPAC) host No. 20 Hastings College for a GPAC contest at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
