SIOUX CITY, Iowa – A goal in the 10th minute wasn't enough for the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team on Tuesday night. The Morningside College Mustangs would go on to score two goals in each half to defeat the Tigers 4-1 in Great Plains Athletic Conference action in Sioux City, Iowa.
Stephanie Banvelos (Hayward, Calif.) put DWU on the scoreboard first off an assist from Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) However, it was all Morningside after that, scoring four goals to keep the Tigers out of reach.
Weidler tallied four shots on goal on off five shots, while Jocelyn Behm (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Kaylynn Anziano (Rapid City, S.D.) added a shot on goal in the loss.
Freshman goalie Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) had nine saves in the net. The Mustangs outshot the Tigers 21-9.
The Tigers (5-8, 0-6 GPAC) visit Briar Cliff for a GPAC contest at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
