Women’s soccer drops match to (RV) Jamestown

MITCHELL, S.D. – On a cold night, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team hosted (RV) the University of Jamestown and dropped the Great Plains Athletic Conference match, 2-0 Thursday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.

In the opening minutes of the game, the Jimmies (6-4-1, 3-1-1 GPAC) notched their first goal of the day off a cross into the middle of the field to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team found the back of the net for the remainder of the first half as the score remained 1-0 in the favor of Jamestown at halftime.

The second half began similarly as the first half did as the Jimmies tallied their second goal of the game just moments into the second half. Jamestown was able to hold the Tigers (3-6, 1-3 GPAC) off the scoreboard, defeating DWU on Thursday.

Gemini Wesley (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) each recorded a shot on goal, while Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) snagged two saves in the game.

The Tigers return to action in a GPAC battle against Hastings College at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hastings, Neb.
