HASTINGS, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team was defeated by No. 23 Hastings College Saturday 3-1 in Hastings, Neb.
The Tigers (3-7. 1-4 GPAC) came out with a strong effort defensively in the first half. After the Broncos (8-0-2, 5-0-1 GPAC) scored 10 minutes into the game, DWU dialed in its' defense as both teams went into the locker room with Hastings leading 1-0.
Hastings got a goal early in the second half, but the Tigers answered with a goal from Cierra Asmann (Castle Rock, Colo.) with 21 minutes left to go in the game. However, the Broncos responded with a goal minutes later as DWU fell to Hastings.
Hasting outshot DWU in the match 27-3, The Tigers' shots came from Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Kaylynn Anziano (Rapid City, S.D.), while Asmann tallied a shot and a goal. Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) finished with 10 saves and Cristal Villalvazo (San Jose, Calif.) relieved Bowes in the last 15 minutes in the game and notched four saves for DWU.
The Tigers will have a quick turnaround as they will take on Dordt College at 1 p.m. on Monday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
