Bulldogs push past Tigers

SEWARD, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team traveled to Nebraska to take on Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Concordia University, but was unable to come away with the victory in a 4-0 defeat Saturday afternoon in Seward, Neb.

 The Bulldogs (10-1-3, 7-0-1 GPAC) jumped on the scoreboard first in the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. DWU was able to hold Concordia in check throughout the remainder of the half as the score remained 1-0 heading into halftime.

 However, the Bulldogs added a second goal in the 66th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Concordia extended its' lead with two goals in four minutes, running away from the Tigers (4-9, 2-6 GPAC) down the stretch.

 Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) finished with two shots and a shot on goal, while Stephanie Banvelos (Hayward, Calif.) tallied a shot on goal. The Tigers finished with 11 shots and three shots on goal, as Concordia tallied 21 shots and eight shots on goal. Cristal Villalvazo (San Jose, Calif.) and Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) finished with two saves each.

 DWU returns home to take on Northwestern College at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
