Jimmies overpower DWU in road contest

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – In the final of four-consecutive road contests, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team dropped its' Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup to University of Jamestown, 5-0 Wednesday night in Jamestown, N.D.

 The Jimmies (8-5, 6-1 GPAC) struck first in the 23rd minute with a goal. Less than 10 minutes later, Jamestown added a second goal and moments before halftime, they tacked on a third goal to hold a 3-0 lead at intermission.

 The Tigers (3-8-1, 0-7-1 GPAC) finished with a pair of shots in the second half, but were unable to tally a goal, as the Jimmies poured on two more goals in the second half to defeat DWU.

 Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) and Courtney Mascarenas (Pueblo, Colo.) notched a shot apiece, while Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) recorded 12 saves for the Tigers.

 DWU returns home to battle No. 12 Hastings College at 4 p.m. at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
