MITCHELL, S.D. – Despite scoring the first goal of the game, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team lost at home to No. 12 Hastings College in Great Plains Athletic Conference action Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
In the 14th minute, Jocelyn Behm (Sioux Falls, S.D.) gave the Tigers (3-9-1, 0-8-1 GPAC) an early lead as she nailed a shot that found the back of the net.
The Broncos (11-2, 7-1 GPAC) evened the score in the 26th minute with a goal. Right before halftime, HC took the lead with another goal in the 41st minute to take a 2-1 lead into intermission.
HC did not take long to add to its' lead after tallying another goal in the 51st minute. Two more goals in the 62nd and 81st minutes sealed the victory for HC.
Behm tallied the only goal for DWU, while Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) notched a shot. The Tigers finished with three shots in the game. Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) finished with nine saves in the net.
The Tigers take on Briar Cliff University at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
