Tigers ousted on senior day

MITCHELL, S.D. – On senior day, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team cut a two-goal deficit in half with an early second half goal. However, it was not enough as Concordia University won, 4-1 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Mitchell.

The Bulldogs (6-10-2, 6-4-1 GPAC) scored first in the 24th minute. They doubled their lead in the 29th minute with another goal.

The Tigers (5-10-1, 2-9-1 GPAC) finished the first half with eight shots but could not find the back of the net as the teams headed to their locker rooms with Concordia leading, 2-0.

Just five minutes into the second half, Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) shot the ball past the goalie and put DWU on the scoreboard.

But two goals in the final 10 minutes allowed Concordia to escape with a victory.

Bardsley finished with a goal and four shots, while Alondra Partida (Salinas, Calif.) tallied three shots. Jocelyn Behm (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Cierra Asmann (Castle Rock, Colo.) each recorded two shots. Alissa Betz (Bismarck, N.D.) snagged six saves in the goal for DWU.

The Tigers conclude the season with an overall record of 5-10-1.
