Tigers shutout at home by Jimmies

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team was unable to tally a goal at home against University of Jamestown in a 3-0 Great Plains Athletic Conference defeat on Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.

The Jimmies (6-3, 4-3 GPAC) jumped out to a hot start as they recorded five shots in the first 10 minutes. Six minutes later, Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) reeled off the first shot of the game for the Tigers (7-3, 5-3 GPAC) but the shot attempt was saved.

UJ broke the tie with a goal in the 19th minute with a shot that dribbled past Alissa Betz (Bismarck, N.D.). The Jimmies kept the offensive pressure on as they finished the first half with six more shots, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Jamestown didn't take long to double its lead, tallying a goal in the first three minutes of the second half. The Tigers continued to attempt shots on goal, but the Jamestown defense proved too tough.

In the 64th minute, the Jimmies notched their third goal of the game to pull away with a 3-0 commanding lead that they never let go of.

The Tigers were outshot 24-5 in the game, as Betz recorded seven saves in the contest.
