ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team made quick work of Presentation College en route to a 4-0 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday in Aberdeen, S.D.
Through the opening 25 minutes, neither team broke through to score a goal. However, Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) opened the scoring after her kick found the back of the net in the 28th minute.
The flood gates opened after the first goal as Alyssa Weidler (Sioux Falls, S.D.) tallied a goal just seven minutes later. The Tigers (9-3, 7-3 GPAC) held onto a 2-0 advantage at halftime.
The second half spelled much of the same as not even five minutes into the half, the Saints (0-8-2, 0-6-2 GPAC) scored an own goal to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
With just 15 minutes to play, Deandrea Johnson (Antioch, Calif.) nailed a shot past the keeper for the fourth goal of the game to seal the victory for the Tigers.
Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) recorded the shutout in the net for DWU as she recorded three saves. The Tigers outshot PC 9-4 through the game.
DWU returns home to battle Morningside College at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
