Tigers held scoreless in road defeat

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Despite 11 shots and six on goal, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat versus Tabor University on Sunday in Hillsboro, Kan.

 Dakota Wesleyan managed 11 shots in the match, including six on goal. On the attack, senior forward Alondra Partida (Salinas, Calif.) paced the Tigers (9-6) with seven shots and four on goal.

 Mary Niedzwiecki (Lorton, Va.) also chipped in a pair of shots, though, DWU was unable to find the back of the net in the first half. At the goalie position, Hannah Bowes (Omaha, Neb.) kept the net clean as she finished with a pair of saves on four shot attempts.

 Neither team was able to find the back of the net throughout the majority of the second half. With under five minutes to play in the match, the Blue Jays (7-4) recorded the first goal of the contest in the 84th minute to break the tie. Dakota Wesleyan was unable to match a response despite seven more shots on goal and DWU suffered a 1-0 defeat.

 The Tigers continue their road trip versus Kansas Wesleyan University at 5 p.m. tomorrow in Salina, Kan.
