WOMEN’S SOCCER CRUISES PAST SAINTS IN FACULTY APPRECIATION MATCH, FOUR DIFFERENT TIGERS WITH GOALS

MITCHELL, S.D. – Using a balanced offensive attack and a stellar performance by the defensive back line, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team earned a 4-0 victory over Presentation College on Wednesday from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.

Out of the gate, the Dakota Wesleyan offensive attack strung together a pair of shots on goal, including the opening goal of the match. A strike on goal by Taira Shimata (Mililani, Hawaii) was blocked, though Deandrea Johnson (Antioch, Calif.) responded seconds later off an assist from Jozy Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) and DWU held a 1-0 lead early on.

Both teams exchanged opportunities until midway through the first period as Partida extended the Tiger (7-5-1, 4-3-1 GPAC) lead to 2-0 in the 25th minute. The 5-foot-3 senior forward finished off an assist from Kamryn Harrop (Willard, Utah) and the Blue and Gray controlled a two-goal lead at halftime, despite a late shot attempt by Alyssa Crnic (Omaha, Neb.).

Isabella Gregg (Moreno Valley, Calif.), who finished with seven saves at goalkeeper, led the DWU back line with two saves in the first half. Dakota Wesleyan also held a 9-2 advantage in shots.

With the clear momentum, Bardsley furthered the Tiger advantage to 3-0 in the 50th minute followed by a shot on goal by Partida.

Tiger midfielder Harrop sealed the contest with the final goal of the match in the 60th minute as Dakota Wesleyan controlled a four-goal lead.

Despite a late penalty kick by the Saints (2-7-1, 1-6-0 GPAC) in the 73rd minute, Dakota Wesleyan cruised to the 4-0 victory behind the defensive back line's shutout performance.

DWU ended the match with 14 shots while three different Tigers registered multiple shots on goal.

Head coach Clayson Glasgow and DWU returns to the pitch next versus in-state rival Mount Marty University at 1 p.m. on Saturday from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D. The Tigers are set to celebrate senior day festivities during Saturday's match versus the Lancers.
