Jamestown, N.D. – In a momentous road match with Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason implications, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer program suffered a 2-1 loss versus No. 23 University of Jamestown on Wednesday from Jimmie Turf Field in Jamestown, N.D. Sophomore midfielder Brooke Bullington provided Dakota Wesleyan with a late goal, though Jamestown secured the one-goal home victory preserving its perfect season.
The UJ offensive attack acquired the momentum early in the match, scoring the first goal in the 16th minute and claiming a 1-0 lead.
Following a sluggish start by the DWU offensive unit, Jozy Bardsley attempted to propel the Tigers (9-6-1, 6-4-1 GPAC) with a shot on goal in 32nd minute. Alondra Partida struck an ensuing corner kick seconds before halftime, however, the Jimmies (16-0-0, 11-0-0 GPAC) clung to the one-goal lead at the intermission.
Jamestown raced out to another quick start to begin the second period registering multiple attempts on goal.
With under 10 minutes left to play in the match, Jamestown extended its lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 81st minute. Bullington, who secured her first goal of the season seconds later in the 82nd minute, gave the Blue and Gray a chance late in the contest. Though, UJ held on for the 2-1 home win behind 18 shots and seven shots on goal.
Tiger freshman goalkeeper Isabella Gregg finished with five saves in her ninth start of the season while Bullington and Bardsley paced Dakota Wesleyan offensively.
Head coach Clayson Glasgow and the Tigers return to the pitch one final time during the 2021 regular season versus Morningside University at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
