How it Happened
The Dakota Wesleyan defense held off Waldorf University's strong offense early, as Isabella Gregg controlled three shots on goal within 18th minutes. Alyssa Crnic and Taylor Henry stops the momentum with two shots on goal at the 27th and 44th minute, but both attempts were denied. With attempted shots, both sides of the competition remain scoreless at the end of the first period.
In the second period, the Tigers gave the Warriors a quick offensive attack as Alyssa Crnic had two chances at the goal, however, remains scoreless halfway through period. After a foul in the box by WU, the Tigers earned a penalty kick as they looked to break the tie. Nathalie Ramos was tasked taking the penalty kick as she finds the back of the net to get Dakota Wesleyan on top with a 1-0 lead.
Meanwhile, the Tigers defense kept the Warriors in check with attempted shots on goal, but Isabella Gregg protects the net for eight total saves this match. Although Dakota Wesleyan was scoreless in the first period, nine shots on goal was just enough to defeat Waldorf University with a 1-0 victory.
