WOMEN’S SOCCER SUFFERS A 2-1 LOSS TO DOANE

Mitchell, S.D. – In an intense battle of the Tigers, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team falls short to conference matchup Doane University by a score of 2-1 from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex on Saturday, October 8th.

How it Happened

Doane University opens the first period on offensive attack with four shots within the first 17 minutes. Starting goalkeeper, Isabella Gregg, protects the net, saving all four shots on goal she faced. Dakota Wesleyan looks to switch up the goalkeepers, as Taylor Stermon records a save within the first minute of entering the game. Minutes later, Doane secures the first goal of the match in the 38th minute, to lead 1-0 before they headed to halftime.

To start the second period, DU continues their offensive momentum with another goal in the 53rd minute. Though, DWU didn't let that slow them down as Alexis Thompson swoops in to find the back of the net to trail Doane, 2-1. Dakota Wesleyan receives another attempt from Delaney Horan but was saved from the opposing goalkeeper.

After an intense battle between the Tigers, Doane University secures the victory 2-1. The Blue and Gray attacked offensively with four shots on goal, while Gregg and Stermon both record five saves in the matchup.
