How it Happened
The Mustangs gets a good jump on the offensive attack scoring the first goal of the game in the opening 5 minutes. The starting goalkeeper for the Tigers, Isabella Gregg, protects the net with a huge save off the fingers in the 6th minute. Meanwhile, Isabella Veffredo pushes an opportunity in the 26th minute, however, it was saved. Morningside continues to push the 2-0 advantage after a late goal leading into halftime.
The Dakota Wesleyan's defensive unit and Gregg protects the net big time beginning the second half. Morningside get a penalty kick advantage in the 55th minute, which Gregg takes with ease as she continues to deny shots-on-goal.
With the clock counting down in the final minutes, the Tiger's offensive unit comes into play. Bailey Nester and Madison Jenny string together a pair of opportunities in an attempt to find the back of the net, but both shots were saved. In the final minutes of the season, Isabella Vefferdo successfully finds the back of the net to push the Tigers onto the scoreboard. After a long battle, the Mustangs comes on top for the 2-1 victory.
Isabella Gregg sacrifices her body to keep the Tigers alive with eight saves recorded in the matchup. Veffredo, Jenny, and three seniors, Nester, Ohayon, and Shimata, gives the Tigers opportunities to reach the net.
