
Mitchell, S.D. – The NAIA announced the 2022 Daktronics women's soccer scholar-athlete nominees. Among the 1,557-women soccer student-athletes the Tiger women's soccer team posted 11 players of sophomore and above academically to the honors list.
Of the 11 women's soccer student-athletes tabbed to the list there were eight currently players and three players from last year's team on the list.
Among the current players who received the 2022 Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award were, Taira Shimata and midfielder from Mililani, Hawaii; Bailey Nester a defender from Hartford, S.D.; Brooke Bullington a midfielder from Brookings, S.D.; Sydney Pike a midfielder from Rapid City, S.D.; Madison Jenny a forward from Columbus, Neb.; Kazia Ohayon a midfielder from Hartford, S.D.; Isabella Veffredo a defender from Placerville, Calif.; and Alexis Thompson a defender form Sumner, Wash. Student-athletes from last year's team that were also tabbed as 2022 scholar athletes are, Kamryn Harrop, Michaela Herman and Kassidy Johnson.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach and sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
