
Mitchell, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan women's soccer team (2-2-0) secures an exciting 2-1 victory with energetic performances from Annika Enevoldsen and Deandrea Johnson at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex. Both goals were scored early in the first half to set the energy for the matchup.
How it Happened
The Tigers started the match off hot offensively by attacking the Knights defense early. After a variety of attempts on goal, Deandrea Johnson crossed a pass over to Annika Enevoldsen in the 22' minute of the match for the first goal of the match. This gave the Tigers the 1-0 lead early in the first half. DWU kept the offensive fire going, as senior Deandrea Johnson zoomed past multiple defenders to find the back of the net in the 27' minute for a quick 2-0 lead over the Knights before half.
The resilience from the first half never left, as the Tigers continued to put offensive pressure quickly in the second half. In the first five minutes of the half, the Tigers fired seven shots on goal through the Knights defense. The Knights responded back to Tigers aggressive offense with their first goal in the matchup in the 71' minute to make the score 2-1. The Tigers didn't falter, as both teams traded shots for the remainder of the second half. Defensively the Tigers only allowed 17 shots, eight being saved by goalkeeper Abigail Colgrove. Tigers had an immense 44-17 shot advantage over the Knights in the 2-1 victory.
