Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan's women's soccer (1-4-0) suffered a 2-1 loss against D-3 opponent Concordia College Moorhead on Monday night at Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex. The game was extremely physical, with 20 total fouls in the match. Annika Enevoldsen found the back of the net to put the Tigers on the board but wasn't enough to secure the victory.
How it Happened -
Concordia Moorhead starts offensively strong straight from the whistle, jumping quick on the Tigers defense. With 7 shots within the first 20 minutes of the matchup, the Cobbers were able get the first goal of the game by the 19' minute. The Tigers bounced back and started to pressure the Cobbers defense immediately. By the 31st minute, Brooke Bullington passes the ball to Annika Enevoldsen who takes it up the left side for a goal, tying the match at 1-1. The first half continued to be a series of shots on goal from both offenses.
At the beginning of the second half, Concordia Moorhead continued to bring the same offensive pressure for the Tigers. After multiple shot attempts, the Cobbers grabbed their second goal of the game in the 66' minute. The match started to get intense as fouls were called against both teams and a yellow card was handed out to the Cobbers. The Tigers pressed hard in the remaining minutes of the matchup as they looked for an equalizing goal but were unable to capitalize and fell short of a comeback.
