TIGERS PICK UP HUGE 2-1 WIN OVER BRIAR CLIFF

Sioux City, Iowa – Tigers were on the prowl for their first conference win and found it on the road at Briar Cliff in the 2-1 win. The Chargers were ranked number 3 in the GPAC preseason coaches' polls and were receiving votes in the NAIA preseason voting while the Tigers were picked to finish 11th in the GPAC. This is the first time the Tigers have defeated the Chargers since 10/23/19 in a 4-3 win.

How It Happened –

The Tiger's offense was on the attack early in the match, as they fired all four of their first half shots in the first 20 minutes of the match with freshman Sara Ewert's shot hitting the back of the net off a quick pass from Annika Enevoldsen. This was Ewert's first career goal and gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead for the rest of the first half.

After halftime, Enevoldsen was looking to grab another assist and did so in the 55' minute as she found freshman Hallie Stone for her first career goal as well. This goal pushed the score to 2-0 as the Tigers found a comfortable lead. Briar Cliff started to feel the pressure and pushed the pace, as they tried to catch up to the Tigers' lead. The Chargers scored from a penalty kick in the 72' minute after several foul calls against the Tigers. Even after bringing the score within one, the Chargers were unable to find a tying goal as the Tigers defense stopped any attempt on goal. The Tigers walked away from the pitch with the 2-1 victory of the Chargers.
