TIGERS CAPITALIZE IN SECOND HALF BUT COME UP SHORT FOR  5-3 LOSS.

Dakota Wesleyan's women's soccer battles in the windy weather and came up short in a 3-5 loss against Dordt University. After a quiet first half, the Tigers capitalized in the second half to get DWU on the board with 3 goals.  

 

How it Happened –

In the opening minutes of the first half, both teams displayed strong defense from the start of the whistle. The Defenders were able to get themselves on the board in the 22' minute for the 1-0 lead. The Tigers saw more opportunities offensively to reach the back of the goal but found themselves trailing by 2-0 at halftime.  

 

Starting the second half, Dordt kept the offensive pressure on the Tigers to record two goals at the 51' and 55' minute of the matchup for the 4-0 lead. However, the Tigers fought back immediately as Deandrea Johnson passed it to Annika Enevoldsen, who scored the Tigers' first goal. Enevoldsen was not done attacking the Defenders, as Hannah Petrucci feeds Annika Enevoldsen the ball to kick in the top right of the goal, leaving the Tigers to trail 4-2 in the 58' minute. The Tigers keeps the determined offensive pressure going as Esmeralda Guzman takes it for herself and found the back of the net in the 59' minute, making it a thrilling 4-3 game. The match saw a series of substitutions and fouls as the atmosphere became competitive for both teams. The Tigers were hungry for a comeback but despite the fired determination, Dakota Wesleyan came up short in the matchup for the 5-3 loss.

The Tigers remain in the jungle Saturday, September 30th for GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference) conference play against Concordia (NE) in Mitchell, S.D. The matchup against the Bulldogs is scheduled to begin at 5:30 P.M.
