TIGERS FALL 1-0 IN UNFAVORABLE WEATHER

Jamestown, N.D. –

Dakota Wesleyans women's soccer team falls 1-0 against Jamestown University in challenging weather conditions. Despite the adverse weather, the Tigers continued to demonstrate intensity throughout the matchup. Even with the loss the 5-5-1 record in conference play has puncched the Tigers ticket as a lock for a top eight seed spot into the GPAC tournament. The Tigers with return to the postseason after a two-year drought when they made the tournament back in 2021 when they fell to Briar Cliff on the road in a PK shootout.

How it Happened –

In the opening minutes of the matchup, Deandrea Johnson made a strong attempt, hitting the post but narrowly missing the goal. The Tigers continued to keep the offensive pressure early from Johnson and Hallie Stone, testing Jamestown's defense. The first half consisted of both teams determined to be first on the scoreboard, concluding with a 0-0 score.  

The second half saw a quick switch from Jamestown offense, putting immediate pressure on the Tigers defense. The Jimmies found a breakthrough at the 55' minute, giving Jamestown a 1-0 lead. Yellow cards and fouls added to the intensity of the game, though the Tigers continued to fight for an equalizer goal. After several attempts for a tying shot, Dakota Wesleyan couldn't capitalize on the opportunities for a 1-0 loss.  

Up Next for the Tigers –

The current No. 8 seed Tigers hit the road again to play in the last GPAC conference matchup in the regular season against current No. 5 seed Morningside on October 28th. DWU could potetionally move up two spots in the rankings with a win over the Mustangs.  The matchup is set to begin at 3:30pm.
