Tigers Fall to Concordia (NE) in Nail-Biter

Mitchell, S.D. - Dakota Wesleyan women's soccer faced off against Concordia (NE) in a close contest that kept fans engaged. The game, filled with intensity and momentum swings, ultimately ended in a 2-1 defeat for Dakota Wesleyan.

The first half saw both teams trading opportunities, with women Tiger's defense holding up against Concordia's attacks. Despite their best efforts, the Tigers eventually found themselves leading when #27 Hannah Petrucci scored for DWU in the 62nd minute,assist from #9 Isabella Veffredo, putting Dakota Wesleyan up 1-0.

However, just ten minutes later, in the 72nd minute, Kyana Rios found the back of the net with an unassisted goal, leveling the score at 1-1 

As the clock ticked down, the game intensified. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the momentum shifted again when Concordia's Sierra McElhannon scored in the 75th minute, assisted by Elena Ruiz. The goal gave Concordia a 2-1 lead, leaving Dakota Wesleyan in a race against time to tie the score.

The final minutes saw Dakota Wesleyan pushing hard for a goal, but despite outshooting Concordia in the second half and creating several chances, they couldn't find the breakthrough they needed. With a total of 12 shots on goal the Tigers fell short.

In terms of stats, Dakota Wesleyan recorded 5 saves while Concordia made 7, showcasing the defensive efforts on both sides. 

Despite the loss, Dakota Wesleyan showcased their determination and skill throughout the match. The team will look to regroup and build on their performance as they continue their season. The close defeat serves as a reminder of the competitive nature of the game and the spirit of the Tigers, who will undoubtedly come back stronger.
