TIGER TRACK & FIELD BATTLED CHILLY APRIL CONDITIONS AND STILL POSTED MULTIPLE CAREER BESTS

Orange City, Iowa – Despite unfavorable conditions the DWU track & field teams posted multiple career bests to go with four top-10 all-time finishes/marks. Lila Gronseth had another strong meet placing top five in all three throwing events, highlighted by her 4th all-time throw in the hammer throw of 44.61m. Darby Deffenbaugh placed second in the discus with her 7th all-time in school history throw of 39.76m. Taliyah Hayes continued her strong freshman year beating her previous mark in the high jump with her new 1.52m mark that is good for tied for 7th all-time. Ryan Kienzle also joined in on the top-10 marks with his distance of 45.43m in the discus which now ranks him 7th all-time. Adaya Plastow competed for the first time in 2023 with her finish of 28.91 in the 200m. The Tiger track teams next compete at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

Despite the wacky weather we saw over the last two days, the team overall had some good performances that we can lean on as we prepare for our conference meet. I'm confident with a little bit of sunshine and less wind we are prepared to run/jump/throw well.
