Tigers Excel in Week 2: Personal Records Shattered and Strong Performances Across the Board

Tigers Shine in Week 2 with Multiple PRs and Strong Performances

The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers had an impressive Week 2 in their collegiate track and field meet, highlighted by several performances and personal bests across multiple events.

Track Events:

  • Hailey Oswald (So.) delivered a strong performance in the 400 Meter Finals, running a 1:05.74 SR, placing 3rd overall.
  • Dani Deffenbaugh (So.) also posted a 1:07.53, finishing 6th in the 400 Meter, contributing to the Tigers' success on the track.

In the 60m Hurdles (33"), freshman Ava Ludwig continued to impress, setting a 10.31 PR in the finals to place 5th. She had previously posted a 10.41 in the prelims. Ludwig now ties 8th place in the 60m hurdles for the Tigers record book. 

Field Events:

  • Abby Magnuson (Sr.) led the way in the Shot Put, throwing 13.96m  to claim 1st place.
  • Samantha Kludt (Jr.) placed 8th with a throw of 10.03m.

In the High Jump, freshman Elizabeth Heinen cleared 1.52m PR, earning 2nd place, while Ava Ludwig (Fr.) jumped 1.42m to take 3rd. heinen is now tied for #5 the women Tigers record book. 

The Long Jump saw Ava Ludwig (Fr.) jump to 4.59m, finishing 5th, while Elizabeth Heinen (Fr.) jumped a 4.49m PR, taking 7th place.

In the Weight Throw, Abby Magnuson (Sr.) again showed her strength, throwing 14.56m SR to place 2nd, and Samantha Kludt (Jr.) finished 6th with a throw of 13.19m.

Conclusion:

The Tigers had a remarkable week, with multiple athletes setting personal records and season bests. As the season progresses, these performances show that the team is building significant momentum, and their continued improvement promises exciting results in the coming weeks. The women Tigers continue to improve after starting their season off with a strong start.
