Tigers fall short in four-game loss to Chargers

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – For the first time this season, the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team fell below the .500 mark overall after a four-game loss to Briar Cliff University Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tigers came out strong and took the first game, but could not hold off the Chargers the rest of the way. The Line score was 20-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-19. The loss drops DWU to 11-12 overall and 2-7 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

DWU had a .394 hitting percentage in the first game, led by junior Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) who finished the match with 19 kills, which was a match high. Juniors Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) and Sammy Fluck (Becker, Minn.) each added nine kills in the loss.

The Tiger defense was led by junior Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) with 21 digs, while senior Maggie Stehly added 14 digs. Stehly continues to chase 1,500-career digs and sits just six shy after the match against the Chargers. Junior Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) added a team-high 39 assists.

The Tigers play their fourth straight GPAC road match against No. 21 Hastings College at 5 p.m. Saturday in Hastings, Neb.
