DWU falls to Morningside in GPAC action

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team is heading down the final stretch of the 2015 season and took on Morningside College in a match crucial to the Tigers' Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason hopes Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tigers fought the Mustangs to close finishes in the first two games, but dropped both and lost the match 3-0. The line score was 25-20, 30-28, 25-21. The loss drops DWU to 11-14 overall and 2-9 in the GPAC.

DWU dropped the first nine points of the first set but charged back to tie the game at 17 before Morningside closed it out to take an early lead. The second set was back and forth with DWU failing to convert on four game points.

The Tigers were led by junior Sammy Fluck (Becker, Minn.) with 12 kills and two block assists, while juniors Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) and Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) each added 11 kills.

After recently becoming just the fifth Tiger to reach the 1,500th-career dig mark, senior Maggie Stehly (Sioux Falls, S.D.) posted a match-high 20 against the Mustangs.

The Tigers continue GPAC play against No. 17 Concordia University on Senior Night, Friday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.
