
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team celebrated senior night in a Great Plains Athletic Conference match against No. 15 Concordia University Friday at the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.
The Tigers honored the careers of three members of the 2015 team, including senior Maggie Stehly (Sioux Falls, S.D.), along with redshirt juniors Sammy Fluck (Becker, Minn.) and Mallory Jark (Warner, S.D.).
The Tigers put up a strong fight in the second set, leading late, while the third set started with several blocks from DWU's front line to give the home team an advantage. The Bulldogs rallied both times to take the match in three sets, 25-14, 25-22, 25-17.
DWU was led by junior Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) with 10 kills and eight digs, while Fluck and junior Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) each added six kills. Fluck led the Tigers at the net with three total blocks, while the team totaled eight blocks in the match.
Stehly had a team-high 17 digs and junior Emily Pengilly (Watertown, S.D.) added 10. Junior setter Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) posted 16 assists and nine digs in the loss.
The Tigers have a quick turnaround, as DWU will be right back at home to play Nebraska Wesleyan University the last time as conference foes at 4 p.m. Saturday.
