Chargers top Tigers at home

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team got off to a slow start on Wednesday evening, as Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Briar Cliff University swept the Tigers in straight sets at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

 Set scores were: 16-25, 9-25 and 20-25.

 The Chargers scampered to an early lead in set one, while hitting a .294 hitting percentage. In set two, BCU had a .400 hitting percentage, however, the Tigers put up a fight in set three, coming within four points of the Chargers.

 Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) tallied seven kills and 13 digs. She also recorded her 500th-career kill in a Tiger uniform. Freshman Chelsey Heeg (Freeman, S.D.) added six kills, while Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) had 20 assists and Sara Herman (Reliance, S.D.) pitched in 10 digs.

 The Tigers (11-5, 1-1 GPAC) visits Grace University for a nonconference bout at 7 p.m. Friday in Omaha, Neb.
